South Africa Family Itinerary

Day 1: You will be collected by your dedicated guide and transferred to your hotel in Cape Town. Spend 3 nights in Cape Town. Late afternoon you depart on an orientation city tour and cableway up to the summit of famous Table Mountain for champagne sundowners. Suggest early dinner in one of the many restaurants on Camps Bay beachfront.

Day 2: A tour of the Cape Peninsula is an absolute must to any visitor. It offers picturesque landscapes, flora, fauna, architecture, harbour and street scenes. Starting along the “Atlantic seaboard” travel through the beautiful coastal suburbs of Clifton and Camps Bay where mountains and sea blend together and provide a breathtaking location for any visitor, local or foreign. The next stop is the fishing village of Hout Bay, where one can either shop for curios or take a 40 minute ferry to see 10 000 seals that inhabit a nearby island. Continue along the coastal route via scenic Chapmans Peak Drive, and onwards down to the Cape of Good Hope – the most southwesterly tip of Africa, where the cold Benguela and warm Mozambique currents meet. The landscapes at Cape Point are dramatic and the wildlife prolific. Visit the resident Jackass Penguin colony, (one of the only land-based colonies) at Boulders beach. At historical Simon’s Town, once a British naval base, we may stop to look around the harbor and quaint Town Square.

Day 3: Full Day sight-seeing where your guide will be flexible to your interests and traveling style. The day can include visits to: Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the V& A Waterfront, Groot Constantia Wine estate; Robben Island; cultural township tour.

Day 4: Scenic drive via the scenic coastal route to Hermanus. Stop at Harold Porter Botanical garden in Betty’s Bay en route. If you are golfers, a round of golf can be arranged. A tasting can be arranged at one or two of the wineries in the Overberg area. (Hamilton Russel Vineyards, Bouchard-Finlayson). Spend 1 night.

Day 5: After a leisurely morning enjoying your choice of activities on offer in the Hermanus area (walking the famous cliff path, whale watching) we take you on a scenic drive over mountain pass and through fruit growing region to the charming winelands valley of Franschhoek. Your guide will be flexible to your interests and travelling style. Travel through Franschhoek and continue onto Stellenbosch where you will check into you hotel. Spend 3 nights.

Days 6 & 7: Winelands touring, depending on your wine interests and travelling style. Enjoy cellar tours and special tastings. Lunch at one of the excellent winelands restaurants with fantastic views of the most beautiful wine country in the world!

Day 8: Transfer from your hotel to Cape Town Airport, fly from Cape Town to Johannesburg Airport to Hoedspruit Airport where you will be collected and transferred for your safari experience. Spend 3 nights at your chosen lodge.

Days 8, 9 & 10: On Safari. Enjoy the sights and sounds of wilderness and go on daily game drives. Safari stays are all inclusive.

Day 11: You will be collected from your lodge and transferred to Hoedspruit Airport in time for your late afternoon flight to Johannesburg. Fly home.
